Oh emm gee my scalp has been itching with the braids more this time than the last time I tried crochets. I’m not sure if my pores are excreting more than usual, If I’m not using enough moisturizer this time or if it has to do with the fact that my cornrows are smaller and tighter than she did them last year. Regardless my scalp is driving me loca!
Someone else may try washing their scalp to alleviate the itching; but since my hair is so soft I know that the second it gets wet beneath my crochets the frizz will get real. Last time my scalp felt clogged I tried a sample vile of dry shampoo I didn’t think it did much for me but then again it was a small sample. But since I’ve been told dry shampoo is an ideal alternative when you can’t wash your hair I decided to give it another shot. Unfortunately I couldn’t remember the name of the sample I tried so I took to The Gram to ask my followers for help. In the meantime, while exploring Savannah on a random trip with my boyfriend, I stopped by CVS to try my luck finding one on my own. They had so many! It didn’t help that they all had the same ingredients and instructions. I had no idea what to choose. Just when I was about to give up I saw “Not your Mothers Clean Freak Dry Shampoo” since I was familiar with their hair gel from high school slick down days I decided to try it. It was an added bonus that with tax the travel size was only 3 bucks. That night I tried the spray out and I promise I followed the instructions almost to a T. I did find some relief but since the spray is intended for a braidless hair style, some modifications were in order.
Fast forward to this morning! I was brushing my edges down when I had an eureka moment about how I wanted to try using the spray around my cornrowed hair beneath my braids. Thankfully Katurah braided my hair into very neat and easy to reach sections which allowed me to go section by braided cornrowed section with the product. I simply Sprayed my scalp with the product and then using my hair toothbrush (yes I have a toothbrush designated for my hair) I brushed my scalp between the sections. It’s only been an hour since I tried this and already I feel some relief. Praises!! I’m not sure if this is the “correct” way to use the product but it has definitely helped.
P.S. Thank you @kellilovesyouu for responding to my question on IG I will definitely try your suggestion out next time I make a Sally’s run 🙂
