So today I had the pleasure of hanging out with family and friends at The Americano for a Do Work Media sponsored event “Reggae Americano.” I don’t know where to even begin describing the positive vibes, chill atmosphere and delectable food. I enjoyed myself immensely. While the homie DJ Scrib entertained the place with Caribbean influenced tunes I had the opportunity to link with friends and network with strangers. I seriously cannot wait for the next Do Work Media event; I think August is too far away!

I was blown away by the abundance of natural textures and styles that surrounded me! I am a sucker for naturalists, male and female alike, and felt  honored to be in the presence of so many unique styles. A good friend, the talented and sultry Latisha G, stuck out to me all afternoon because of her beautifully styled box braids and overall look for the event. Her look today screamed “I am Melaninated and proud! ” with a twist of #blackgirlmagic. Not only does she have a voice from heaven, but she inspired me today with her “modern-day Afrocentric” style.

“Don’t let anything get in the way of your dreams!”

Latisha G has been natural for 6 years and describes her look as modern day Afrocentric.  Check her out on IG @latishagmusic and go to her website. Check out her Facebook Page and tell her I sent you =). When I asked her who or what inspires her, she told me Beyoncé;  however, when asked who or what she is currently playing on repeat she answered Jazmine Sullivan. Thank you, Queen, for influencing my first ever ‘Community Inspiration.’
