So who doesn’t love a good hair puff day? Afro puffs, hair puff, puff balls whatever you call are definitely my favorite go to hair style. When I can’t get my fro to cooperate, puff it up; when my pin curls start drooping, puff it up; when the hair style I just tried to mimic off YouTube doesn’t work out as planned, puff it up; and when I’m in a rush for work, puff it up-I’m sure you catch my drift- Hands down it is one of the easiest, and one of the most versatile hair styles for anyone natural simply because it is a classic style that can be dressed up or down for any occasion. Personally I think my own puffs are the bomb diggity but I was blown away earlier today by my lil sister Ryan’s fluffy puff. I probably replayed her Snaps 3-4 times because it was just so…fluffy!! I just wanted to reach through my phone touch it and fluff it so much so that I just had to share its puffy awesomeness with you guys.
“I would describe my look as plain Jane. A cute dress and sandals with a slightly beat face and I’m good to go !”
My girl Ryan is a Special Education major at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. She currently works as a trip coordinator for her local council on aging. Unlike me she has been natural her entire life and quite honestly Ryan was one of my biggest influences 6 years ago when I was ready to try the natural journey for myself. When I asked her who or what inspires her she said ‘I am inspired by the everyday; The daily accomplishments and struggles [that] we encounter help to shape us into the people we are. It’s so beautiful to know that [there] is so much more good than bad in the world.’ If you would like to take a walk through her mind for a day get pumped by listening to her top 4 artist Andra Day, Chance the Rapper, Rihanna, and Drake. For our fellow sisters and brothers already on their natural journey or thinking of starting one she suggests Creme of Nature’s Buttermilk Leave in Conditioner and Taliah Waajid’s Curly Cream for twist outs. She also suggests detangling often and moisturizing daily. For someone who describes her look as “Plain Jane” she is definitely a beautiful soul doing her thing! Thank you sis for the constant inspiration!!
