I woke up this morning and decided to give one of my fellow ROTC Curl Ambassador, Alice Otchere, Turmeric face mask a try. –Click here to watch— I have more acne scars because of an increase in acne breakouts and my usual facial masks aren’t as effective lately. I’ve read and heard a lot of good things about this interesting spice. But I must say I have never used it for anything before. It is said to be an effective natural remedy for treating acne because of its antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Upon reading a few Pins on Pinterest about it I also learned that a turmeric facial mask is key in clearing up scars and acne inflammation. Since my face has been suffering from all of the above…I was sold.
When Alice did her TFM (Turmeric Face Mask) she used yogurt, but I found a few recipes on Pinterest that involve honey, and coconut oil or milk. Since I didn’t have any plain yogurt in the fridge I decided to give the honey mask a try.
I mixed approx. 1 Tsp of honey with a little over a ½ Tsp of turmeric powder and a capful of apple cider vinegar (lemon juice works just fine too). Using a clean makeup brush, I mixed the ingredients together until they formed a thin paste and then brushed the paste all over my face, careful not to get it too close to my eyes.
After letting it sit for 20 minutes and then washing my face I noticed that my skin felt smoother and had a bit of a glow to it. As you can see in the photo’s below, the mask pulled all my acne inflammation to the surface. Yes, it is a bit more noticeable BUT one thing I learned from working in a Dermatology office for over a year is that sometimes it must get worse before it gets better.
I asked Alice how many times I should apply the mask and she said twice a week. I am going to add this mask to my skin regimen for the next 3 weeks, at the end of which I will post a video to my YouTube Channel discussing my results. In the meantime, it would make my day if you joined our growing Natural Hair/Lifestyle Facebook Community www.rotccommunity.com to catch Alice, Myself and the other Curl Ambassadors when we go live in the group.
If you end up trying out this mask let me know =)
